DC’s African American Civil War Museum finally re-opens this summer! Story by the Washingtonian.
Meet Louis Henry Douglass, son of Frederick Douglass, born in 1840. He enlisted in the 54th Massachusetts Colored Infantry in 1863, rising to Sergeant Major. Louis fought in key battles before being medically discharged in 1864.
The renovation of the African American Civil War Memorial Museum is coming along nicely. We look forward to welcoming you July 2025
