AACWM Grand ReOpening New Date Set for Veterans Day

The African American Civil War Memorial Museum announces a postponement of the grand reopening of its newly renovated facility, originally scheduled for July 18, 2025. The Museum will now officially reopen to the public on Veterans Day, November 11, 2025, in alignment with a day of national remembrance and reflection for our veterans.

The delay is due to ongoing supply chain disruptions and a funding freeze in the District of Columbia. These factors are impacting the timely delivery of construction materials, exhibit installation, and the construction timeline, requiring a revised schedule for completion and preparation.

”While we are disappointed by the delay, these factors – particularly shipping delays – are beyond our control,” said Dr. Frank Smith, Executive Director of the Museum. “We are committed to ensuring that the Museum’s exhibitions are presented with the care, quality, and historical significance they deserve.”
