You’ve undoubtedly seen the African American Civil War Memorial situated right outside the 10th Street NW exit of the U Street Metro stop, but have you been to the museum? Did you even know there was a museum right across the street? Didn’t think so. Easily one of D.C.’s most hidden treasures, the African American Civil War Museum is small, but contains fascinating artifacts, pictures, clothing, and other tidbits about the role African Americans played in the Civil War. It’s a small museum, but nonetheless important.
